How to create your first QR code in QRdy
Creating your QRdy QR code is a one-time process. Once it is done, the same code works permanently for every customer check-in from that point forward. You never need to generate a new code per customer or per day.
Setup
From dashboard to counter in five steps
- 1
Go to the QR Codes section
Log in to your QRdy dashboard and select QR Codes from the navigation. This is where all QR code management lives.
- 2
Name your workflow stages
Enter the stages that match your service flow. Three to five stages is typical. For example: Checked in, In progress, Ready for pickup. These are what the customer sees on their status page as you tap through them.
- 3
Download your QR code
Once your stages are set, your permanent QR code is available to download. It is a standard image file you can print, laminate, or display on screen.
- 4
Place it where customers will see it
Position the code at eye level at your counter, reception desk, or drop-off point. The more visible it is, the higher the scan rate from day one.
- 5
Note the fallback code
Alongside your QR code, QRdy provides a short text code. If a customer cannot scan, they can type this into any browser to reach the same check-in page. Keep it visible at your counter as a backup.
Understanding the links
The three links QRdy gives you
QRdy gives you three distinct links, each serving a different purpose.
Business QR code (customer-facing)
The code you display at your counter. Customers scan it, enter their name, and get their live status page. This is public and can be displayed anywhere.
Fallback code (customer-facing)
A short text code that opens the same check-in page. For customers who cannot scan. Display it alongside or below the QR code.
Dashboard link (operator only)
Your staff use this to log in and update job stages. Keep this private. It is not for customers.
Common questions
Questions about QR codes
Does the QR code ever change?
No. Your business QR code is permanent. Once you download and display it, it continues to work indefinitely. You only ever need to print or display it once.
What is the no-scanner fallback?
QRdy also provides a short fallback code alongside your QR code. If a customer cannot scan, you can tell them the code and they can type it into any browser to reach the same check-in page. This covers older phones or situations where scanning is difficult.
Can I have more than one QR code?
Yes. You can create additional QR codes from the QR Codes section if you need different workflows for different service types. For example, a garage might have separate flows for servicing and for WoF checks.
What is the difference between the business QR code and the operator link?
The business QR code is for customers: it opens the check-in form. The operator link is what your staff use to access the dashboard and update job stages. These are separate links for separate purposes. The operator link should not be shared publicly.
